Portland has a surprisingly big indoor climbing scene for a city its size. There are around nine gyms across the metro, and they range from small, locally owned gyms to big national brands.
Some have been around for decades. Others have opened or rebranded in just the last few years.
That makes Portland a really interesting place to look at what’s happening in climbing right now.
More gyms. More competition. More brands. And everyone is trying to build the same thing: community.
So I wanted to take a closer look.
What are Portland's climbing gyms actually doing well?
Where are they falling short?
& most importantly, what could The Circuit do differently?
